How do I book my first appointment?

You can get in touch with us via phone, email or by completing the online form.

What happens during my first therapy sessions?

Prior to your first session you would have already completed a free 20 min consultation over the phone. The first assessment will involve getting more background information and what you are hoping to gain from therapy. At the end of the session, your therapist will discuss a framework and plan for therapy that you are happy with. This framework will guide subsequent sessions and will be reviewed on regular basis. The therapist will also be able to answer any further questions that you may have.

Does therapy or counselling work?

A number of factors determine if therapy works or not. We do recognise that having a good therapeutic relationship with your therapist and choosing the appropriate therapeutic interventions play a big part. If we feel that we cannot help with your issues, we will make appropriate referrals or recommendations. If you’re unsure as to whether CBT counselling in Brentford is right for you, why not contact us at Mindsight Centre to discuss your issues in detail.

How long will I be in therapy? Do I have to go forever?

At Mindsight Centre we offer short term and long term therapy. At the same time, we recognise that every client is different and will seek therapy for different reasons. The number of sessions will reflect this.

How does confidentiality work?

Everything that you discuss in therapy will remain confidential between your therapist and you. If you want the therapist to disclose any information to a third party you must provide the therapist with a written and signed consent to do so. There are some legal obligations that may require a therapist to break confidentiality. For example, if your therapist believes you or someone else is in imminent danger. This is very rare and if it occurs your therapist will always try to inform you first.

Most people say therapy only involves talking about your feelings and I want a change in my life. Can therapy really help?

Generally, most people assume that therapy only involves talking about your feelings. At Mindsight Centre we will explore what your goals are for therapy and devise a plan in meeting your goals. Our aim is to create a confidential space where you can explore the changes you want to achieve. Depending on the reason and your purpose in wanting to start therapy, we will inform you of the therapy process. Our work with you is a collaborative one where there is an equal understanding of the process of therapy. (Each client’s needs are individual so the sessions will be tailored to meet your individual requirements).

What if I cannot make it for my session?

We kindly ask that you let us know at least 48 hours before your session is due. Unfortunately, if not enough notice is given you will be charged the full amount for that session.

How long is each therapy session?

Each CBT counselling session in Brentford lasts 50 minutes. Double sessions can be booked but only if it is in your best interests and is part of the therapy treatment plan.

What if you’re not the right therapist for me?

Deciding to start therapy and choosing a counsellor can be hard and overwhelming. You will be offered a free 20 minutes consultation over the phone prior to our first meeting. At the assessment stage, we will discuss your needs and how we may be able to assist. If you feel that we are not the right service for you or we cannot meet your needs we will assist you in finding an appropriate therapist.

When and how do I pay?

Payments are due at the end of each session. We currently accept cash, check or online transfer.

Can my health insurance cover the fees for the session?

We are currently in the process of registering. If you do have a health care insurance please get in touch and we can advise you accordingly.
